Was beginning to wonder. The news out of your adoptive country keeps getting a little more grim every time I check -- what's your perspective on things?

I was just referring to the plane crash.
Were you talking about the insane politics ?, the economic mismanagement? or the efforts to destroy the tourist industry. Or ws it just the weather?

Heh, I've been on vacation in NYC for the last 10 days -- completely missed the plane crash. So yeah, basically was wondering about everything else.

1) There is supposed to be an election Dec 23rd, it might get delayed till January. Many of Thaksins cronies started a new political party, vowing to drop charges against Thaksin and other party members if elected. Needless to say Thaksin will be funneling BILLIONS into Thailand to try and buy votes -- this will be an ugly ugly election

2) Economy is weak, strong Baht hurting exports, consumer confidence dropping, and foreign investors scared off by new regulations and ownership limits.

3) Tourism is down 10-15%, the 1am closing times, random crackdowns on night clubs, etc...have convinced a lot of the '24 hour party people' crowd to vacation in the Med and Adriatic.
